Disruptive Thinkers are joining the fight against bullying in South African schools. We have a goal of visiting 25 schools in South Africa in 2018 for sessions on how to START Building and STOP bullying. With each visit we want to reach into the minds of our children especially those who are bullying or who are vulnerable to being bullied. More importantly we want to reach out to teachers to provide ongoing support and to equip them to foster an environment that would have no room for bullying. We believe that positive psychology needs to be embedded in the approach to fight bullying. Like rape, racism and victimization, putting the word STOP in front of those actions rarely deters the person from doing it. In fact the word provides no option for behavioral change that will appeal to the person doing it. If they STOP they will get no satisfaction from doing what they currently do, so why STOP? Our sessions are aimed at driving changes to the mindset of our children at school from bullying (verbal, physical, cyber) to building (a new generation that will seek to change themselves and change others positively despite their background and circumstance). We want to additionally provide ongoing awareness to Children, Principals, Teachers, Parents and the Communities at large of the facts, impact and extent of bullying in South Africa with a special focus on the rise of Cyber-bullying.

I will be hosting an event upstairs on the 13th of May as well. Catch me downstairs, though, on the 19th of March. Free entry.

It's tour time! Well, not now, or even now now, but soon, very very soon. Now Now Just Now is taking The Valley, Retro Dizzy, Runaway Nuns and Julia Robert up north on a train for the shindig to end all shindigs. However, before we do that, we wanna give a little love back to the city that birthed us all... So we'll be playing one final send-off-shoot-the-lights-out-fry-your-lil-brains show at Mercury before we leave. So this is your last chance to get in on the ground floor, to be there before everything changes, to be able to say to your friends in the future: "Aweh. I was there before they all got on that train and never came back...". Seriously, it's gonna be sick. Come say goodbye to us forever. JAZZ and GENDER "Dismantling Patriarchy within the Creative Industries" The #CTIJF2018 Arts Journalism Public Debate turns its lens on gender – not just on harassment and inequalities in representation and pay, but also on questions of the representation of women and minority groups in music, entertainment, literature and media, and the stereotypes that often govern popular perceptions about the objectification of women in music. The conversation will also explore notions toward dismantling patriarchy within the creative industries. Post Harvey Weinstein there (in the USA), and Jennifer Ferguson here (in SA), the world is waking up to gender disparities and mistreatment in the creative industries. Founder of the #MeToo movement, Tarana Burke (https://goo.gl/86Lnp9), has made substantial waves in the media, so much so that she earned the title of Time Person of the Year in 2017. The time is now to introduce strategies to dismantle patriarchy within the creative industries especially. Join the discussion on Tuesday, 20 March from 13h30 – 16h30 at the Opera Room inside the Artscape Theatre Centre in Cape Town. Booking is essential to avoid disappointment! Buiten vir sy betrokkenheid by die groep, het hy ook verskeie suksesvolle kitaaralbums uitgereik, waaronder Kitaarboogie, Hits of The Shadows, Crying Guitar en A tribute to Ricardo Bornman.
